Handmaids Protest Kavanaugh Nomination

As hearings began for Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh, DC Action Lab coordinated a creative action for Demand Justice to call attention to the threat posed to abortion rights by Kavanaugh’s appointment. On September 4 and 5, about 20 women dressed as Handmaids from the popular show, The Handmaid’s Tale, and held silent vigil outside the hearing room in protest of his nomination. Demand Justice’s action drew a great deal of press attention and highlighted Kavanaugh’s “anti-abortion, anti-healthcare, and anti-women views.”
