Floating Protesters tell Ford to Dump Trump

DC Action Lab coordinated visuals and logistics for a creative action in Columbus, Ohio, on September 20, 2018, during the Midwestern Governor’s Association meeting. The Forward Not Backward coalition, including Public Citizen, Greenpeace and Sierra Club, had been protesting Trump’s rollback of clean car standards and calling attention to Ford CEO Jim Hackett’s lobbying Trump for this change. Hackett was invited to be the Midwestern Governor’s Association’s keynote speaker. Activists met the CEO with a floating banner on the Scioto River outside of the meeting location bearing a message for Ford: “Dump Trump, Protect Consumers.” During his speech that day,  Hackett said that Ford does not support the proposed rollback of clean car standards. Hackett said, “There’s a group of people out there protesting today, the governor and I, about CO2 standards. Ford is leading in this regard, because it’s my belief that the legislation to improve fuel efficiency, which we’re in favor of keeping the standard, not a rollback, we have plans to meet it. I’ve come up with a new theory, I’ve told the president this, that the real advantage in CO2 is gonna come from the cloud orchestrating things.”
